By may third guess, I had tried all the vowels and had a sneaking suspicion Y would be at the end of the layout. When I couldn’t make any words with the leftover tiles, doubling up the P’s did the trick, and I saw the solution clear as day. The etymology on this word is rather unique. GUPPY came into use in 1918 when they became popular as aquarium fish. They get their name from their scientific name (Girardinus guppii), which honored R.J.L. Guppy, a British-born clergyman, who supplied the first specimen to the British Museum. Happy Thursday to one and all. On to tomorrow!
