DANDY

DEFINITIONETYMOLOGY

Pun Play: Did you FINE the double D’s?

My Gameplay: TALES, MARCH, BAGGY, DANDY

My streak of 2-guess solve may have ended, but I had a DANDY of a run! Interesting word, DANDY. The dictionarydefines it as: a man who gives exaggerated attention to personal appearance. Another term for that is FOPPISH, which means silly or exaggerated, but is somewhat obsolete nowadays. Just a random musing. TGIF! On to tomorrow!

My Gameplay: TALES, SLOTH

I’m on a hot streak, folks! Not to be a braggart, but it isn’t every day that I solve the Wordle on two consecutive days in 2-guesses. There wasn’t any secret to my success. To be quite honest, I rearranged the letters and thought SLEUTH is too long, but SLOTH is just right. Coincidentally, the number of today’s puzzle (#474) holds a special place in my heart. Signs are everywhere. You just have to slow down and observe them. On to tomorrow!

My Gameplay: LEAST, MARSH

The stars were aligned and I finally got a 2-guess solve! There’s nothing more exciting than watching the tiles flip from gray to green. My next guess was going to be HARSH, which only the would have worked to complete it. Have a happy hump day everyone. On to tomorrow!

My Gameplay: TALES, SPORT, STING

My Monday is off to a great start thanks to my opening guess. The only way I see that my performance could’ve been improved was by playing SLATE first so the S was in the correct position from the beginning. The letters used to spell the solution were rather common, with the exception of the P, so I’m sure most everyone had an easy go of it. Have a great start to your week. On to tomorrow!

LEAVE

DEFINITIONETYMOLOGY

Pun Play: You REFRAIN and snow behind when moving to the desert.

My Gameplay: SLATE, WHALE, LEAVE

The nip in the air this morning was a bittersweet reminder that mother nature is ready to cleanse herself once again. The remaining traces of summer falling from the branches will soon be a chore that many of us will tackle in another week or so. Heck, some of you lawn-jockeys out there have probably already cleared your lawn of them a few times over! Get out there and enjoy the sunshine if you’re able. Happy Saturday. On to tomorrow!

SCORN

DEFINITION ETYMOLOGY

Pun Play: In DISDAIN age be wary of who you trust.

My Gameplay: APRON, SWORN, SCORN

Today’s solve reminded me of my open dislike for a particular food dish my parents would prepare at a minimum of once per week during my youth. To this day I have never prepared that dish since leaving their home. Nor ever will I! 😉 On to tomorrow!

SCALD

DEFINITIONETYMOLOGY

Pun Play: This one was much harder than it STEAMED!

My Gameplay: TALES, SHAWL, SLANG, STALL, SCALP, SCALD

It was a nail-biter at the end. My only 2 options were SCALY and SCALD so I’m delighted I chose the latter. I’ve been making quite a few good choices in my personal life as well. It feels AMAZING when you’re on the right path. On to tomorrow!

USURP

DEFINITIONETYMOLOGY

Pun Play: What SUPPLANT called if it can roar? A dandelion!

My Gameplay: LEARN, SHIRK, WORST, USURP

The U and Y were the only vowels left on the board. Doubling up the U made the answer a cinch to find and I completely forgot about the Y. Don’t feel bad if the answer eluded you today. The solves have been on the difficult side this week and I’m sure you weren’t not alone. We’ve always got your back. Oh, and Happy hump day. On to tomorrow!

SOGGY

DEFINITIONETYMOLOGY

Pun Play: There wasn’t MUSHY could do other than admit she’s a failure!

My Gameplay: SLATE, SMOKY, SORRY, SOUPY, SOGGY

That’s a lot of “S” words for a day of the week beginning with a “T.” My third guess gave me the S & Y in their correct positions, but the O being yellow made it impossible for my brain to place. SOGGY was my next guess after SORRY, but I switched it to SOUPY at the last moment to chew up a couple of tiles instead of a single “G”. I should’ve SOGGY writing on the wall and trusted my first instinct. Oh well! On to tomorrow!
