MY STARTING WORD: FARTS

Happy Thursday everyone! Now was that an impressive opening salvo or what??? It didn’t wind up producing any playable letters but I still like to think it was a good gas! My second choice was WOUND and that’s when the tide started turning my way. MINED came next followed by MINCE for the finish. I’m think I’ll try MINCE as my starter word tomorrow just for fun. Oh, and Friday’s game is #300! Have a terrific Thursday and I’ll talk at you tomorrow!

MY STARTING WORD: STEWS

Happy hump day my fellow Word nerds! Does anyone remember Chunk from The Goonies??? His name is Jeff Cohen and he’s an attorney now. He was 11 when the movie was filmed back in 1985 and he’s now 47 years old!

Since my mother was gracious enough to invite my son and I over for a bowl of homemade beef stew last night, I went ahead and chose STEWS to get the ball rolling. Well, the ball didn’t get very far. I got a grand total of zero letters right out of the gate so I decided to try POUND on round two. UN popped up in the correct position so my next choice was CLUNK. CHUNK immediately came to mind to seal the deal. This one took a little extra bit of thinking to see it through which is always appreciated by this player. Have a wonderful Wednesday and I’ll talk at you right back here tomorrow!

MY STARTING WORD: POUND

Happy Tuesday everyone. I’m running way behind today so I’ll keep it brief. My thought going into this one was to not use an S in my starting word because it seems like that letter’s been used every day. My other choices were: SOLAR, CORAL and then ROYAL. Did anyone choose a Y right off the bat? Did the puzzle make you want to pull your heir out? Be sure to let us know how your solve went in the comments down below and I’ll talk at you tomorrow.

MY STARTING WORD: TOMES

Happy Monday everyone! The QU letter combo was pretty hard to find. Luckily for me, it came near the end of the solve after I had eliminated most of the other vowels. My other guesses were: SLACK,SPRAY, SWING and then SQUAD. Check out the etymology link up above on SQUAD. The last few sentences were particularly interesting. I’ll talk at you tomorrow.

MY STARTING WORD: CLAMS

Good Sunday morning everyone. I got really excited when my starting word produced 2-letters in the CS and 1-letter in the WS. Having to move my C to the end, the only 2 words that came to mind were FLACK and BLACK. Flack seemed a little too creative so I subbed in the latter. Done deal. I’ll talk at you tomorrow!

MY STARTING WORD: TIMES

Ahhh….. the weekend! Happy Saturday everyone. My starting word gave me 3 letters in the WS which made me think more than I wanted too at such an early hour in the morning. The other words I used were: SIGHT, STICK, STAIN and finally STAIR. Maybe it’s just me but it seemed like there were a lot of “S’s” in this week’s puzzles. Have a great day everyone!

SCARE

VISUAL DESCRIPTION: Candy solutions get any easier???

MY STARTING WORD: SPORT

TGIF everyone! What a successful week of solves it’s been. I didn’t even have to take the puzzle to the dreaded sixth spot once! My starter was stellar and produced 2 letters in the CS to make this solve a breeze. My other guesses were SHARE, SNARE and finally SCARE to seal the deal. That second letter was a buggah to find but it gave itself up eventually.

It’s absolutely pouring out today. Better dig my ghoul-oshes out of the closet! Have a fantastic week and be sure to swing by again tomorrow.

FORAY

DEFINITION ——- ETYMOLOGY

VISUAL DESCRIPTION: Pretty easy….. foray Thursday!

MY STARTING WORD: THINK

Happy Thursday everyone! I had a really hard time getting this one rolling. My starting word gave me squat and my first couple of guesses produced wrong-spot letters. That’s nearly half of the entire alphabet and I didn’t get a single match! My next guess, CORAL, gave me the ORA in the correct sequence and I knew I had it in the bag from there. Will it be another perfect week of solves? Be sure to tune in tomorrow!

COMMA

DEFINITION ——- ETYMOLOGY

VISUAL DESCRIPTION: This puzzle GRAMMAR brain a workout!

MY STARTING WORD: SPARK

It doesn’t come as much of a surprise that it only took 3 guesses to comma up with the answer to this one! Well, at least to me it didn’t because I’ve been repeatedly doing it all week. My first two words, SPARK and WANED, showed the A in the wrong spot so I had a lot of ground to cover in my final two guesses. My third try was TOTAL, and after about 5 minutes of patiently pondering plausible plays, COMMA creeped into my brain and it was nothing but a shower of green on the answer board. Until tomorrow, be well and do good!

NATAL

DEFINITION ——- ETYMOLOGY

VISUAL DESCRIPTION: This solve took birth sides of my brain!

MY STARTING WORD: WARTS

Happy Tuesday everyone! For the second day in a row I’ve only needed to use my starting word and 2 guesses to arrive at the solution. Nothing like tooting your own horn, huh?! After WARTS, I tried LATHE and then FATAL. We’ve had a lot double letters appearing in gameplay recently. If you didn’t find the other A in this one you probably had to take it all the way to the end! Looking up NATAL, I learned that a newborn baby is technically a neonate and the neonatal period is the first 4 weeks of a child’s life. Take care and be well!
